Not only is Queens Library for everyone, but its Wi-Fi service is, too.

Starting December 17, visitors to any Queens Library branch don’t need a library card or PIN to access the free Wi-Fi.

Users can now connect freely to “QBPL_WIRELESS.”

According to Queens Library, it removed the sign-in requirement to “fulfill its mission of providing easy access to information and improve the user experience, while also working to close the digital divide.”

In Fiscal Year 2018, more than 3 million people used the Queens Library’s Internet service, the library reported.

The Rockapulco Santa Run in Rockaway Park will take place on Saturday, December 15 beginning at 11 a.m. The race is a 5K and starts on the Boardwalk @ 102nd Street.

Based on the holiday classic “The Nutcracker,” the “New Stories of the Shell-Shocked Nut” takes a cast of lively characters on a journey through memories of NYC to explore themes of loss and recovery.

The East Village Dance Project worked with local Jamaica students from Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL) to create “The Shell-Shocked.”

The production will take place at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center (JPAC) at 153-10 Jamaica Avenue from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

This holiday season, consider donating a gift to children and families in need.

From now until December 20, Queens Borough Hall is hosting a holiday toy drive. They are accepting new toys, board games and even toiletries.

All donations are anonymous and not tax-deductible.

At the end of the toy drive, the items will be distributed to community-based organizations serving the needy in Queens, including the borough’s homeless shelters.

Drop off the toys in the lobby of Borough Hall, located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard.

Join Cultural Collaborative Jamaica and Friends of Rufus King Park this weekend to celebrate the holiday season.

On December 8, at Grace Episcopal Church, there will be children’s holiday workshops from 2 to 5 p.m. Activities include arts and crafts, a visit from Santa, gifts and refreshments.

Children must be registered for the free event by December 5.

Later that night, join the Community Tree Lighting event at 6 p.m. at Rufus King Park, located at Jamaica Avenue and 153rd Street.

For the fourth year, State Senator Leroy Comrie is hosting a turkey giveaway before Thanksgiving.

The giveaway is in conjunction with local businesses and nonprofits. The frozen turkey will be given to local families in need.

Please note that there’s a limit of one per household, and it’s subject to availability.

Recipients must live in the 14th Senate District.

Resorts World Casino NYC is hosting its 8th annual Christmas Tree Lighting tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in the casino’s main entrance.

Guests will be treated to not only the tree lighting, but live music and entertainment.

This is the largest Christmas tree lighting in the borough of Queens!

The event is free and open to the public.

Meet Author Crystal Wolf as she discusses the first of four novels in The Creation Series under the genre of epic fantasy with sci-fi elements.

Here’s your chance to take a free CPR and AED Awareness course in nearby Richmond Hill.

Assemblyman Mike Miller is teaming up with C.E.R.T. #9 to sponsor the course, staffed by FDNY/EMTs, on Monday, November 19 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The course will be at the Richmond Hill Block Association, located at 110-08 Jamaica Avenue.

The course includes compressions-only CPR, how to use an AED, a practice manikin and take-home instructions for follow-up practice.

Space is limited, and available to those 14 years or older.
