Resorts World Casino New York City announced a $50,000 grant to the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) to fund their StartUP! Business Plan Competition, a competition which aims to support entrepreneurship in Queens.

The partnership was announced at QEDC’s Queens Taste 2017, a fundraiser held at the New York Hall of Science in Corona.

“Resorts World Casino New York City is honored to join QEDC to support small business owners in Queens,” said Michelle Stoddart, director of PR and community development at Resorts World Casino New York City. “The StartUP! Business Plan Competition will enable local entrepreneurs to access new tools and resources to continue to innovate in the booming Queens economy.”

Participants in the entrepreneurship competition will attend training classes and then submit a business plan to be judged by a panel for a chance to win funding for their business.

Contestants can compete in one of three categories: community, food-based, or innovation. Eligible businesses must be startups currently based in Queens and winners can receive a grant of up to $10,000.

The competition begins in August and ends in March.
