Southeast Queens will pay tribute to the late Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor with a street co-naming ceremony this weekend.

Hosted by Councilman I. Daneek Miller, the street co-naming at the corner of 192nd Street and Linden Boulevard in St. Albans will honor the legendary rapper from A Tribe Called Quest, considered one of the most influential hip hop groups of all time.

The group’s members, including Kamaal Ibn John Fareed, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White were all raised in St. Albans.

The renamed street is in near Nu-Clear Dry Cleaners, which was featured in A Tribe Called Quest’s music video for “Check the Rhime.”

The ceremony is slated for Saturday, November 19th at 1 p.m. Phife Dawg’s family, fellow artists and other hip hop historians will speak about his life and impact.
