Former Knicks player Anthony Mason was honored with a street renaming last week in South Jamaica. Hundreds of family, friends and community members showed up to remember the late athlete, a fan-favorite known for his physical prowess.
“When you get these types of honors, it means you’ve touched a lot of people,” said former Knicks star John Starks. “He was a man full of passion, a man of conviction.”
Often known as “Mase,” the South Jamaica native passed away on February 28, 2015, a few weeks after suffering a massive heart attack. He had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
