Department of Health to host flu event in Jamaica

Flu season is back, and with temperatures dropping, it’s more important now to get your flu shot.

On Thursday at 11 a.m., the acting health commissioner, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, will be speaking about the importance of the flu vaccine at Central Library (89-11 Merrick Blvd).

She’ll note how important is especially in the black community, which has low vaccination rates in the city.

Afterward, she will give our own State Senator Leroy Comrie his flu shot.

Come hear from the health commissioner herself on Thursday.
