State Senator Leroy Comrie is hosting a Military Black History Month celebration on Tuesday, February 27 at the American Legion Post 483 in Rosedale.
The event will honor African Americans and Caribbean Americans who have put their lives on the line to defend their country.
The senator’s office notes that southeast Queens is home to many men and women who have served in every conflict, from World War II to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Especially for African American vets, they did not always receive the freedom and justice they fought for upon returning home.
The event will serve as a platform for veterans to share their stories with the larger community.
